Why Mouth Itching after Eating?

Some people sometimes feel like a tingling or itchy mouth after eating fruits and vegetables. Causes of mouth itching could be due to an allergy to the content of these foods is called oral allergy syndrome (oral allergy syndrome).

"Oral allergy syndrome is also called pollen-food allergy syndrome can cause these symptoms, in some cases can even cause swelling in the throat, fevers or worse," said Dr. Manny Alvarez

Dr. Alvarez said this reaction because of certain proteins that are found in fruits or vegetables. For example, people who are allergic to ragweed allergy is likely when eating melon, if allergic to birch pollen in it will appear in the mouth itch when eating an apple.

Oral sensitivity tends to evolve over time along with frequent exposure to allergens such proteins, because it's generally the people affected by this oral allergy syndrome, aged 20-30s years.

The following are some of the proteins in foods that might trigger the occurrence of oral allergy syndrome due to cross-react with pollen proteins, namely:1. Ragweed, allergy can react to banana, melon, watermelon or tomatoes.2. Zucchini, these allergens can react with sunflower seeds, chamomile tea and echinacea.3. Birch Pollen Allergy, allergens can react with kiwi, apple, pear, peach, plum, anise, cherries, carrots, hazelnuts and almonds.4. Rubber latex allergy, the allergen can react with banana, avocado, kiwi, chocolate and papaya.
There are various ways you can do to prevent the onset of allergies such as:
Avoid foods either fruit or vegetables that can trigger allergies. If you want to eat fruit or vegetables, then cook it because it can break down or alter existing proteins that the immune system will not attack him. If you want to eat the fruit, then Peel the skin because most of the protein allergens contained in the skin.
